Your life, in your own words

What's more important than your legacy? Your story.

Through a single filmed conversation, we document a life as it was lived — preserved for the people who love you.

What we make

What remains is not a video. It is a testament — the choices, the losses, the quiet convictions, told in your own voice.

"These are stories that can live through their own words."

How it works

The magic is in the lead-up.

Inquire

Choose an available window through our booking calendar. Nothing is fixed yet — this is simply the beginning.

II

The conversation before the conversation

We speak together to confirm the right package, the timing, and the location — most often, the comfort of your own home.

III

The agreement

A clear, signed document covering our guarantees of service, insurance, and fees. Everything in writing, nothing left vague.

IV

The portrait

We gather an account of the person whose life we will document — who they are, the shape of their years, the names and places that matter.

V

The questionnaire

Before the interview, a considered set of prompts arrives — time to begin remembering, so the stories are ready when the light comes on.

VI

The day

One chair. One light. One conversation, filmed with the care of cinema.

"I never thought anyone would ask me about all of this. It felt like my life mattered enough to be told properly." What we hear when the camera stops

Why we do this

Because someday, someone will wish they had asked.

Photographs show us how someone looked. A voice, a laugh, the way a story gets told the third time — that is how someone was. We bring the chair, the light, and the patience. You bring a lifetime.

We come to your home, because that is where the stories live.

The founders

Trevor & Troy Brown

Brothers, and the founders of The Tale Of. They share a passion for story in its purest form.

It began ten years ago, when they sat down and interviewed their grandparents. Little did they know, their grandmother would develop dementia, and their grandfather Parkinson's disease.

The gratefulness they carry for that one raw interview inspired a business that would give the same gift to other families.

Begin

The first step is a conversation.

Choose a time below. We will speak, confirm the details together, and begin the gentle work of preparing a life to be told.
